Happy (almost) Fall! I’m traveling through Brazil as I write this, so I want to give a special recognition to my Brazilian fans: thank you for coming out to see me! For those of you in the States, I hope to see you soon, too, as I’ll be hitting the road on September 17th, when my next (and 17th) novel will be published. In just a few short weeks, I’ll be kicking off my book tour at the Target store in my hometown of New Bern, North Carolina. Visit my website to pre-order the book and to find my full tour schedule.
If you’re not in one of the cities where I’ll be on touring, don’t worry: you can still win a signed copy the week before the book is released. Stay tuned to my website, Facebook, and Twitter on September 9 and 10th for details of a special scavenger hunt at select, participating bookstores, and for other opportunities to win a copy of The Longest Ride. And if you want a sneak peek at the first two chapters, check my website on September 3rd! This might be my favorite book that I’ve written since The Notebook, so I really can’t wait to share it with you.
As you read, you may even recognize the name Marcia Peak, who is a character in the book. That’s because the real-life Marcia Peak was the winner from Godiva’s The Sweetest Story Ever Told sweepstakes, which was held ahead of Valentine’s Day in 2012. Marcia was the Grand Prize Winner, and in addition to winning a lifetime supply of chocolate from Godiva, she also got to be a character in The Longest Ride. Thank you, Marcia, for loaning me your name!
It’s not only book news that I have to share with you. I’m excited to announce that Lifetime Television is planning “Deliverance Creek”, a two-hour period film that will serve as a backdoor pilot for an hour long drama to air on the network next year. The show takes place at the end of the Civil War and follows Belle Barlow, a young woman who is faced with uncertainty as she attempts to defend her family’s land by any means—even if it means becoming an outlaw. I’ll keep you posted as this show develops.
Hope to see many of you on the road! I can’t wait to hear what you think of the new book!
