Book Tour Update, Giveaway & Exclusive Online Preview

As we all navigate these challenging times, I can’t help but be grateful for connections that I have with readers. This would normally be the time that I’d be announcing a list of signing appearances for my latest novel, The Return, which will be available in stores on September 29. Unfortunately, with conditions being what they are across the US, that isn’t possible yet. My publishing team is hard at work coming up with new and exciting ways for me to connect with you this fall, and we’re hoping to have a mix of in-person and virtual events that will be announced in the next few weeks. Of course, everything is subject to change, but as I write this, I am hopeful that we will be able to bring these plans to fruition in a way that will allow us to connect like never before.

Speaking of new ways to keep in touch, you can now send me text messages at (252) 262-2447 or sign up online here using any device to get exclusive text updates before anyone else. As an added bonus, if you connect with me by text before the end of this Saturday, you’ll automatically be entered in a drawing to win one of ten signed advance readers’ copies of my new novel!

My twenty-second novel, The Return, is a story about learning the true meaning of love and forgiveness and how, in life, to move forward, we must often return to the place where it all began. As a thank you to my email mailing list subscribers, I sent out a link to an exclusive online preview of the book. You can also get the link by signing up for my mailing list now. If you read the preview, let me know what you think by sending me a message on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or by text

I’ll reach out again as soon as I have updates for this fall - until then, be well.

Sincerely yours,

The Return, In Stores September 2020

Last but not least, my email subscribers will continue to get exclusive updates on The Return directly from me as they are announced so if you haven't already, I hope you'll sign up for my email mailing list now.

In the meantime, thank you to everyone who has reached out on social media over the last few months to share how much they enjoyed my most recent novel, Every Breath. Now that the book is available in paperback, many readers are discovering it for the first time and their response has been heartwarming. If you haven't had a chance to read Every Breath yet, I hope you can find a quiet moment during the upcoming holidays to do so.

Speaking of the holidays, my publisher recently held a #SantaSparks giveaway for my social media followers on Facebook and Twitter and, today, they kicked off a special Every Breath Gift Set Giveaway exclusively for my mailing list subscribers. Five lucky winners will be randomly drawn to receive an Every Breath journal and signed paperback edition of the book. Ho Ho Ho!

May you have a happy and healthy holiday filled with love and laughter.

The Every Breath Digital Mailbox Reopens for a Limited Time

Wonderful News! To celebrate the new release of Every Breath in paperback, Grand Central Publishing is reopening the DearEveryBreath.com digital mailbox for a limited time, from October 15 through December 31, 2019.

When Every Breath was first released, Nicholas shared with readers how the real-life secluded North Carolina beach mailbox known as “Kindred Spirit” was part of his inspiration for the book. Back then, his publisher generously sponsored a digital mailbox to try to bring some of Kindred Spirit’s magic online and let those who could not travel to the real mailbox experience what it’s like to leave a letter there. Back then, fans posted letters, ranging from inspiring to humorous to heartbreaking and, now, some of the most touching ones are featured in a special edition of Every Breath, available exclusively at Walmart stores.

With Gratitude and Warm Holiday Wishes

My Dear Friend,

Last month, my twenty-first novel, Every Breath, was released and since then I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of kind words and messages from readers. Thanks to you and them, Every Breath debuted as the #1 book on the New York Times Bestsellers list! I am grateful for everyone that embraced the book and for each fan that has shared how much they enjoyed it with their friends and family.

It was also a special treat to have so many people come out to see me while I was traveling for the book’s tour. I continue to look over the pictures from events and always appreciate the opportunity to visit and talk with readers. Thank you to those that attended the events and the hard working folks that put it all together.

Last, I’ve mentioned previously that some of my inspiration for Every Breath came from a secluded North Carolina beach mailbox known as “Kindred Spirit” and, in celebration of the book’s release, my publisher is generously sponsoring a digital mailbox to try to bring some of Kindred Spirit’s magic online. I’d like to shine a light on the fans that have shared their own writing and stories at DearEveryBreath.com. Their letters, ranging from inspiring to humorous to heartbreaking, help remind us all of the power of love along with its challenges, its risks, and most of all, its rewards. If you haven’t visited the digital mailbox website yet, I hope you will find the time to do so soon and that it warms your heart the way it has mine.

Wishing you a warm and happy holiday,

Every Breath is in stores nationwide!

My new novel, Every Breath, is on sale now! In some of the interviews I’ve done so far this week, I’ve been asked what my goals are for this book, and I have to say that all I ever want to do is to write a story that you really enjoy and are glad you read. I enjoyed bringing Hope and Tru to life, and I hope you can say that you really enjoyed reading about them.

My book tour officially kicks off in New York City. While a handful of the events are sold out, some still have tickets available. Please check my events page for more details on events taking place near you. I’m spending a good part of my tour in North and South Carolina, which are still recovering from Hurricane Florence, especially my hometown of New Bern. I’m also keeping those affected by Hurricane Michael in my thoughts and prayers. I’ve donated to the Red Cross, as well as the Merci Clinic in New Bern, if you’d like to do the same.

Last but not least, I’m excited to share that a special edition of Every Breath is available at Barnes and Noble. This exclusive version of the novel features an essay by me about the lost art of letter writing.

I look forward to hearing what you think about Every Breath, and I hope to see many of you on tour.

Sincerely yours,
