An Exclusive First Look at Dreamland for My Email Subscribers, a Preorder Sweepstakes and Other Fun News.

The September 20th release date for my new novel, Dreamland, is quickly approaching, details for my US book tour will be finalized in just a few weeks and, right now, I'm happy to be able to share an exclusive first look at Dreamland with all of my email mailing list subscribers. If you are currently a subscriber, check your inbox for an email from me and you will find a link to the PDF excerpt along with some other fun news. Last but not least, thank you for being a subscriber. I sincerely appreciate being able to stay directly connected with you and I hope you enjoy your subscriber-exclusive first look at the book!

If you are reading this but you aren't currently subscribed, by signing up for my mailing list now, you'll automatically receive a link to the Dreamland first look PDF and you'll also get a detailed update on my upcoming book tour when I make that announcement in an email next month.

The early excerpt that I've shared introduces one of the novel’s main characters, Colby Mills, as he sits relaxing behind a beachfront hotel that I personally know very well. I’ve stayed at the Don CeSar in St. Pete Beach, Florida many times in the past, and it is one of my all time favorites. As I was writing Dreamland, I knew the hotel was the perfect setting for the book, and it ended up having a prominent role as the place where Colby first meets Morgan Lee, a recent college graduate and aspiring musician.

One of my favorite hotels, The Don CeSar in St. Pete Beach, is where Colby first meets Morgan in Dreamland.

Music is also an important part of Colby and Morgan’s story. To honor that, Barnes & Noble is running a Dreamland Preorder Sweepstakes where the prize includes a record player, three of my favorite albums and a signed first edition of Dreamland. You can find more information on the sweepstakes here

In other news, just last week, it was announced that I’ll be partnering with Universal Pictures to produce three feature films including adaptations based on The Wish and Dreamland. I’m so excited to be able to bring these stories to the big screen and will be sure to send you email updates as we hit the major milestones of each film’s development and production.

I’ll have more behind the scenes info for you in the weeks leading up to Dreamland’s September release as well as a tour announcement very soon. In the meantime, if you're looking for some books to fill out your summer reading list, the mass market paperback edition of The Return became available in stores this week and it's the perfect size for tossing into your travel or beach bag on your way out the door.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day, and let us remember those who courageously gave their lives for our freedom.

Sincerely yours,

Nicholas Sparks

Today’s the Day, The Wish is in stores!

My Dear Friend,

I’m excited to share the news that, as of today, my latest novel, The Wish, is available for purchase online and in bookstores across the country! Just last night, The Wish Book Tour kicked off with a great event at Books & Greetings in Northvale, NJ where I had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of both new and long-time readers. I always look forward to my book tours, and I cherish the opportunity to connect with you in person and hear about your personal connections with my books. If you haven’t seen me recently, I hope that you can make it out to one of my upcoming in-person events. If you don’t feel comfortable doing so yet or aren’t located near one of the tour stops, you can still contact one of the participating bookstores for a signed copy.

Thank you to everyone who came out for my first book tour stop. I love hearing your personal connections with my books, like naming your son after Landon, getting a #SafeHaven tattoo, and having #TheWish as your next book club read!

If you enjoy my books in audiobook and ebook formats, I have more happy news. The audiobook edition of The Wish includes a special author’s note read by me (an exclusive audio clip is available now on my Facebook page), and the The Wish ebook edition includes photos taken from my travels over the years that ultimately inspired me to create the main character of The Wish, travel photographer Maggie Dawes. I’m so excited for you to learn about Maggie’s journey, and how places like North Carolina and New York play influential roles in it!

Recently on social media, readers from around the world sent in questions including topics like when I select titles, advice for writers, and my writing process. You can see my video replies to those questions along with more behind-the-story insight for The Wish in a compiled playlist of short videos on YouTube.

I look forward to hearing what you think about The Wish and I hope to see you soon while I’m out on tour. Until then, I wish you only the best.

Sincerely yours,

Nicholas Sparks

The story of The Return focuses on an injured army doctor and the two women whose secrets will change the course of his life. If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, I hope you will soon and I’d love to hear what you think.

As my travel plans and event details continue to unfold for my upcoming book tour for The Wish, I’m happy to be able to share updates for a few fun giveaways and partner sweepstakes related to the book’s September 28th release.

* By pre-ordering The Wish at Barnes and Noble, you’ll be automatically entered for a chance to win a framed photo print from my 2015 trip to Patagonia, along with a signed set of all 21 of my novels.

Book Tour Announcement for The Wish

If you plan on attending a book tour event, please take careful note of the general event policies listed after this note from Nicholas.

My Dear Friend,

Last month, I had the pleasure of traveling to New York City to visit with my longtime friends and colleagues and to prepare for the upcoming release of my latest novel, The Wish. It was a whirlwind of activities — from pre-signing books to interviews and recording behind-the-scenes videos — and I couldn’t be more excited knowing that you’ll be seeing all of it soon, especially since parts of The Wish also take place in NYC.

With the release of each new book comes my favorite part of being an author: meeting with you in-person during the book tour. While the details for the tour’s virtual events are still in the works, I’m excited to be able to share these in-person tour stops with you now.

Monday, Sept 27 w/ Books & Greetings in Northvale, NJ (get tickets)
Tuesday, Sept 28 w/ Booktowne in Manasquan, NJ (get tickets)
Wednesday, Sept 29 w/ A Likely Story Bookstore in Baltimore, MD (get tickets)
Thursday, Sept 30 w/ FoxTale Book Shoppe in Woodstock, GA (get tickets)
Friday, Oct 1 w/ Vero Beach Book Center in Vero Beach, FL (get tickets)
Saturday, Oct 2 w/ Barnes & Noble, The Arboretum in Charlotte, NC (get tickets)
Sunday, Oct 3 w/ Books-A-Million in New Bern, NC (get tickets)

Similar to last year’s book tour for The Return, special arrangements have been made to ensure everyone’s safety.* I sincerely hope to be able to see you on the road, but if you don’t feel comfortable attending an in-person event, please reach out directly to one of our bookseller event partners so that they can help you preorder a signed copy and make arrangements for pick up or shipping.

As I hear from readers who have preordered The Wish, and anticipation builds for its September 28th release date, I can’t say enough about how excited I am for you to read it. I also want to mention that a handful of lucky readers have won advance copies of The Wish through Goodreads Giveaways and more winners will be randomly selected this Sunday.

One last thing to note is that my recently reissued memoir, Three Weeks With My Brother, is currently featured as a Target Summer Reading selection. I’m humbled to have it included alongside so many other great summer reads and by the overwhelmingly positive comments sent from readers that have enjoyed the book over the years.

You’ll hear from me again next month with more book news and, in the meantime, I wish you a happy and healthy end of summer.

Sincerely yours,

Nicholas Sparks
