Friday, April 10 (next week!) sees the theatrical release of The Longest Ride, about two couple’s intersecting love stories. Central to both the book and the film is Luke, a bull rider whose dedication to his family only further drives his dedication to the sport. With that in mind, this newsletter explores the fascinating world of bull riding, and in particular, Jerome Davis, one of the sport’s heroes. Essential to any bull riding event is good music, so you’ll find some info about the North Carolina music scene, too. And, of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t include a few book recommendations—this time, I take a look at a few of my favorite classics.
I hope you’ll see The Longest Ride in theaters when it releases on April 10th. I’m very proud of this film—the screenwriter Craig Bolotin, the director George Tillman Jr., and the studio behind it all—Fox—have all done a fantastic job adapting my novel, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
