Nicholas’ Recommended Reads

Griffin and Sabine by Nick Bantock
This isn't a novel; in fact, it's a book that can probably be read by most people in less than an hour.  It is more of an artistic expression of both love and desire in written form, as explored via a mysterious correspondence, in which the reader can participate.

Silk by Alessandro Baricco
This is another form of love story, one written in almost poetic form.  It was a major world-wide bestseller years ago -- millions of copies -- and if you haven't had the chance to read it, you should do yourself a favor.  It's short and poignant and beautiful, in every way.

To Dance with the White Dog by Terry Kay
Quite simply, this is one of my favorite novels of all time, and one that I've reread at least a dozen times.  It tells the story of an elderly widower, who's befriended by a dog that no one else ever sees, a dog that helps him through his loneliness.  Warm and touching, it's a novel that people of all ages can enjoy.

A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
This novel, set in Sweden, tells the story of Ove, who can best be described as a curmudgeon. The story takes place after the death of his wife, and shows how healing can occur with the unlikeliest of people, in the unlikeliest of ways.

Season’s Greetings and Happy New Year

This past fall, my new novel, Two by Two, was released and thanks to you, my fans and readers, it debuted as the #1 book on the New York Times Bestsellers list. You have my sincerest gratitude for your support of me and my books over these past twenty years!

I was also grateful for the chance to have met so many wonderful readers during the Two by Two book tour. Some of you were lucky enough to get to see a live performance by JD Eicher, the recording artist that I collaborated with to write the Two by Two book soundtrack. This March, JD will be performing across the country and is extending an invitation to all my fans for a special Meet & Greet with him prior to his shows and a chance to win a signed copy of Two by Two. You can find more details about this great opportunity here.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday and new year filled with love and laughter.

Sincerely yours,

nicholas-sparks

I hope you enjoy the book and the music!

My 20th book Two by Two is now on sale, and I can’t wait for you to meet Russell, London, Marge, and the rest of the characters. I’m also looking forward to introducing you to the amazing singer/songwriter JD Eicher who wrote the original song "Two by Two," inspired by the novel. He will be doing live performances of the Two by Two book soundtrackat FOUR events on my upcoming book tour starting at Barnes & Noble Union Square on October 4th. I invite you to check out our recent video interview, where JD and I talk about the difference in writing songs instead of writing books, our inspiration for writing each, and how we both feel we should stick to our respective careers. Thanks so much for supporting me all these years and I hope you enjoy the book and the music.

Sincerely,
nicholas-sparks

P.S. I also wanted to let you know about two special editions of Two by Two that are available. The Barnes and Noble special edition features exclusive personal reflections on each book from my entire 20 year career, and Target has a special edition with a color poster featuring the original covers of all my novels.

Presenting a sneak peek for the Two by Two song!

Last week, I shared the cities and dates for my upcoming book tour with you, and I hope many of you are planning to join me on the road. Today, I am excited to present an exclusive never before seen or heard video preview of the brand new song "Two by Two" written by the talented singer/songwriter, JD Eicher.

This wonderful song is an original exclusive track within a special collection of JD's remastered songs that make up the Two by Two book soundtrack. The entire collection of four songs will be sent to you for FREE on the book's release day, October 4, by signing up at TwobyTwoMusic.com.

Two By Two is my twentieth book, and I wanted to do something really special to celebrate its release. In the book, Russell and his daughter, London, read their own book, Two By Two, almost every night, and I thought that JD could really capture that special relationship between a father and a daughter, especially given that he and his wife are expecting their first daughter in a few months. Because I already loved JD’s music, I reached out to him to see if he would write an original song inspired by the book. Fortunately, he said yes! He also agreed to give away three other of my favorite songs of his. The resulting music collection is the perfect companion to the book, and I hope it amplifies the emotion and connection to the story for all of you. Again, when you visit the soundtrack site, you can sign up to receive a download link for the soundtrack as soon as it becomes available, as well as learn more about our collaboration. I hope you love it!

Sincerely,

nicholas-sparks

Announcing Two by Two tour dates and cities!

The release of my next book, Two by Two, is six weeks away and with that means that I get to visit with many of you during my book tour. I’m excited to share a first look at the US tour dates and locations that have just been finalized. While I travel from coast to coast, I hope I get to meet you somewhere along the way. Visit my events page for the full list of book tour details. Please note that some of the events are ticketed due to limited space and they may sell out, so I encourage you to get tickets early.

This year, I’m planning something extra special: I’ll be kicking off the tour on October 4 in New York City with recording artist JD Eicher, who will be performing an acoustic version of the soon to be released Two by Two book soundtrack. JD and I have collaborated to create a special collection of songs including his original track, “Two by Two,” which was inspired by the book. JD will be joining me on a few more of the tour stops as well. For more about our collaboration, visit twobytwomusic.com. More information about this soundtrack will be revealed in the coming weeks. I’ll also be posting quotes and images that give you a sneak peek into the more prominent themes of Two by Two including family, friendship, love and loyalty.

Best wishes for a happy weekend (and Labor Day, for those of you in the States), and I hope to get the chance to see you this fall,

nicholas-sparks
